View Previous State on an Adjustment Layer

If you have an Adjustment Layer selected, press and hold the backslash key (above the Enter key on a PC, Return on a Mac) to disable the adjustments and see the previous state temporarily. Release the key to re-enable the adjustments.

This is the same as clicking on the Previous State icon on any Adjustment Layer.
