Can’t seem to find the missing patterns, shapes, and gradients in Photoshop?

In this 90-Second tip, you’ll learn how to get a hold of your favorite Photoshop presets so you can go on with an uninterrupted workflow!

Explanation of Missing Items

In Photoshop 2020, you might encounter a problem with looking for your favorite patterns and shapes no longer available.

To elaborate, if you double-click on the side of the layer to bring up the Layer Style window, and click on Pattern Overlay

Clicking on the Pattern drop-down menu will bring a new set of patterns you may not be familiar with especially if you’ve grown with the older versions of Photoshop.

If you click on the gear icon, you also won’t find an option to import or load the old patterns.

Find Missing Patterns in Photoshop

You may not be able to find it in the Layer Style window but you can find it in another panel.

To start finding the missing patterns, shapes, and gradients in Photoshop, choose Window > Patterns

Click on the flyout menu.

On the list, select Legacy Patterns and More, this will add the Group into the available patterns in the Layer Styles as Pattern options!

Find Missing Shapes in Photoshop

If you also can no longer find your favorite shapes, you can apply the same step by choosing Window > Shapes

Click on the flyout menu

On the list, click on Legacy Shapes and More to add it to the shape options you can choose from.

Find Missing Gradients in Photoshop

The same step can be applied when you want to look for Gradients, choose Window > Gradients.

Click on the flyout menu.

On the list, click on Legacy Gradients and More.

That’s how you can easily find the missing patterns, shapes, and gradients in Photoshop and start working with your long-time favorites!
