Duotone Effect In Photoshop

In this tutorial, I will show you how to create the duotone effect in Photoshop.

I’ll start by showing you how to use the Duotone mode and apply the different presets found within this mode.

Usually, the Duotone mode is reserved for use with commercial printing presses, but I still wanted to give you a peek into this method of creating duotone images.

This Photoshop tutorial is mainly about creating the duotone effect with the Gradient Map Adjustment Layer. Gradient Maps allow you to map colors to an image based on the image’s luminance values. This is what creates the duotone effect.

I will also show you how to have better control of the way the duotone effect looks by using a Black and White adjustment layer.
