Great news my fellow Photoshop lovers! The next version of Photoshop, Photoshop CC, will be available to Creative Cloud members this June! That’s just six months after the release of Photoshop 13.1.

Photoshop CC will deliver many new features, including capabilities in sharpening, upsampling and reducing blur, improvements to designer tools, and much more.

The biggest news though is Adobe’s moving Photoshop 100% into the Cloud and 100% by subscription. You’ll still be able to purchase Photoshop CS6 for the time being, but it won’t have the new features available in CC.

Pricing starts at $49.99 a month per person for individuals (This includes all of Adobe’s applications). Existing Creative Suite customers, students, and teachers will get a discount to $29.99 a month.

Bookmark this page (and share it on Facebook and Twitter!) As I will be updating it with new Photoshop CC info as soon as more is available. I will also create Photoshop CC tutorials and post them to this page to demonstrate the new features!

Check out an overview of Photoshop CC:

New Features in Photoshop CC

All-new Smart Sharpen: Photoshop CC lets you fine-tune images to get richer textures, crisper edges and more distinct details.

Intelligent Upsampling: The upsampling tool allows you to reserve detail and sharpness while enlarging images for different print sizes.

Camera Shake Reduction: Camera Shake Reduction analyzes the trajectory of the camera shake and helps restore sharpness to otherwise unusable images.

Editable Rounded Rectangles: Photoshop CC allows you the ability to resize and re-edit shapes after they’ve been created.

Adobe Camera Raw 8 and ACR as a filter: New Advanced Healing Brush, Radial Gradient and Upright tools.

Photoshop CS6 Extended Required For This Tutorial!

Create This Awesome 3D Scene Using NASA’s 3D Models and Textures!

In this tutorial we’ll be creating a moon walking scene using Photoshop CS6’s 3D features. We’ll start out by creating a few simple shapes to create the Earth and the Moon’s surface, then we’ll bring in 2 NASA designed 3D models.

NASA actually provides free 3D Modeling resources that we’ll be taking advantage of to create this moon walking illustration. I have the files used in this tutorial available for download below, or you can go directly to them by clicking on the links at the bottom of this page.

In this tutorial I’ll be skipping some of the basics in order to save time. I’m assuming that you’ve watched my other 3D tutorials (3D Chrome Text, 3D Picture Frame, and The Ken Burns Effect) so you should have basic understanding of how 3D works. If you get lost while watching this tutorial, I recommend watching my other 3D tutorials first and then coming back to this one.

In this tutorial we’re going to create a stylized motivational sports poster. We’ll create this composition by using only 4 images and we’ll work non-destructively by taking advantage of Smart Objects and Adjustment Layers to create the dark-grungy look.

The dark-grungy look we’re trying to achieve is similar to what you might of seen recently in Nike ads where the athletes are dark and desaturated.

The model featured in this tutorial is Lewis Howes, a former-football player turned entrepreneur who many people know for his success with utilizing LinkedIn to grow his business from scratch and his book on LinkedIn. Lewis also has a brand-new podcast, The School of Greatness, which has featured some amazing guests, including two of my all-time favorite authors, Tim Ferris, author of the 4-Hour-Workweek, and Robert Greene, author of Mastery.

Part 2 of this tutorial is found under the Subscriber Only Section, if you’re not a newsletter subscriber yet, then join thousands of other designers, photographers, and Photoshop lovers! You can subscribe here for free!

Create a Baseball Jersey Text Style Using Photoshop

In this tutorial I will be showing you how to create a baseball jersey text style from scratch.

In case you’re wondering I randomly selected the number #48, but the name on the Jersey is actually my Twitter screen name! If you have a twitter account, you can follow me @JRfromPTC!

In this Text Effect Tutorial, I’ll go through the steps of creating a textured background to replicate the fabric of jerseys, and I’ll also show you how to create the stitching around the text using a custom brush. The font used in this tutorial is Jersey M54, which can be downloaded for free at Dafont.com

Creating Motion From Still Images With The Ken Burns Effect Using Photoshop

In this tutorial I will be showing you how to achieve the Ken Burns effect using Photoshop CS6.

The Ken Burns effect is a motion graphics technique which pans and zooms still images to create motion and depth. The effect has evolved to include panning in 3D space which is what we’ll be doing in this tutorial.

We’re going to move the foreground, mid-ground, and background independently of each other to create a sense of depth; this is called the parallax effect.

In the past, Photoshop was used to create the individual images of the effect, and a motion graphics application like After effects was used to create the animation. With Photoshop CS6 we can achieve this effect without the use of any other program!

This going to be a long tutorial, since I’ll be starting from scratch, and I will need to create the different images that will make up each of my planes.

But I’ve included the images already masked out for you to use, that way you can skip ahead to the fun stuff, and just do the 3D effects on your own. Download the files below.

In this tutorial we’ll be designing a Fashion magazine cover using Photoshop. We’ll use an image of my good friend, and fashion blogger Cheryl Van Den Berg.

We’ll use the help of a free plugin called GuideGuide to help us easily set up our document’s guides in order to have a visual representation of the bleed areas, and print safe areas, as well as a grid to place the Magazine blurbs and headlines. I’ll also show you some nifty techniques to take your magazine cover to the next level!

If you’re into fashion or want to thank Cheryl for letting us use her image, go to her blog Oh To Be A Muse. Or you can check out her Facebook page and let her know you found her through PTC!
